Notice to Surrey/North Delta Meals on Wheels Recipients

We are remaining open as an essential service and are reaching out to share steps that we are taking to ensure that all of our clients continue to be safe in light of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Your health and safety is a priority and a commitment that we take seriously:

  • We are working closely with our food provider to ensure safe preparation and delivery of meals.
  • We have advised our staff and volunteers to take time off if experiencing any symptoms of cold or flu.
  • We will continue to maintain strict adherence to our rigorous standards of cleanliness as well as sanitary procedures.

We are asking that our clients place a box or cooler outside their suite or house door for their protection as well as the protection of our drivers. We would like everyone to remain safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We encourage our clients to help us out by following Health Canada’s preparation and prevention by avoiding crowded spaces, reducing contact with others, staying home, making sure you have essentials. Wash your hands often and drink lots of water.

If you live in a house and would like us to leave your meal in a box or bag that you supply, we are willing to do that.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN OUT OF THE PROVINCE OR ARE IN CONTACT WITH ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN OUT OF THE PROVINCE PLEASE LET US KNOW. THE COVID-19 SYMPTOMS CAN TAKE 2 WEEKS TO APPEAR AFTER EXPOSURE TO THE VIRUS.

We will continue to follow developments and will advise you if there are to be any changes to our service. Should you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call the office: 778-590-1433.

The Surrey Community Relief Fund is focused on supporting non-profit organizations that are responding directly to the COVID-19 pandemic by offering supports to the most vulnerable populations in our community. Organized by SurreyCares Community Foundation, the Surrey Now-Leader, Surrey Board of Trade and The Saheli Foundation the goal is to raise $500,000 by April 10th. All of the money raised is to be put to use in Surrey.
